Welcome to Derma Essentia!!
PA stands for Protection Grade of UVA rays. It tells the amount of protection offered by the product from UVA rays. It is a measure of how well a sunscreen will protect skin from UVA rays, radiation that causes skin damage, premature skin ageing, wrinkles, age spots and even skin cancer. It is the Japanese measurement system to rate the UVA protection of a sunscreen, which is based on the Persistent Pigment Darkening (PPD) reaction reading at 2-4 hours of sun exposure.

· PA+ - Some Protection
· PA++ - Moderate Protection
· PA+++ - High Protection
· PA++++ - Extremely High Protection

More plus signs indicate more power of sunscreen to protect your skin from UVA rays and its harmful effects. The sunscreen lotion or sunscreen gel with significant PA ratings protects your skin against photo-ageing. Thus helps in preventing wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation, age spots, moisture loss and scaly patches.

PA+ means the sunscreen can provide UVA protection with a factor of Persistent Pigment Darkening (PPD) between two to four. It can provide some protection against low to medium UV radiation.

PA++ means the sunscreen can provide moderate UVA protection with a factor of Persistent Pigment Darkening (PPD) between four and eight. It is ideal for an individual with normal skin exposed to medium UV radiation.

PA+++ is designed for normal skin that exposes to intense UV radiation. It provides good UVA protection with a factor of PPD between eight to sixteen.

PA++++ provides extremely high protection against very strong or direct UVA rays with a factor of PPD of equal to more than 16. It is the highest grade of UVA protection currently available and most effective in nature.

Choose your sunscreen wisely for a better sun protection!
